Trust Issues. Expired Film. San Jose, CA 2016
Some of the film I shot recently was over 12 years expired, and found sweating away in freezer bags in the sun among piles of odds and ends at the flea market. I wasn't sure if anything was going to come out on the film at all, so I decided to to have some fun and run the rolls through plastic cameras and then cross process. The first batch came back, and from the c-prints, it looks like the film still works. Time to shoot some more.
I got the first few rolls of film back, including the first slide film I've ever shot. Now I just need to save up to buy a scanner...
Over the last 2 years I've been slowing buying up boxes and bags of expired and discarded film, as well as flea market cameras, looking for a chance to return to shooting cheap film on cheap cameras like I did when I started photographing San Jose all those years ago. After over thinking what to do with it all, I just decided the best thing to do was hit the streets with it to see what I find... Let the fun begin.
